Main results of the congress:
- sitting by itself is not harmful, but in combination with whole body vibration and/or awkward posture it becomes risky
- psychosocial factors have influence on low back pain
- when sitting the loading on the spinal column is not higher than in standing posture
- the load on the intervertebral disc is not harmful while sitting
- in a relaxed seating posture the load on the intervertebral disc is minimized (except lieing)
- nutrition of the intervertebral disc needs changing load and motion
- no single sitting posture is recommendable over a longer period of time, motion is neccesary even while sitting
